
Many dead as herdsmen launch fresh attack on Benue community, residents flee
Several persons are feared killed, and many houses set ablaze in Benue State following a fresh wave of violent attacks allegedly carried out by suspected armed herdsmen in the early hours of Saturday.
Many communities in Tombo Mbaya, located in the Buruku Local Government Area, as well as neighboring Mbachoughu and Mbanyagber in Tarka LGA, came under siege in the coordinated assault.
The affected villages of Ortese Mbaatsua, Garagboughul, Usen, Tomahar, and Tse Damkor reportedly witnessed scenes of chaos as residents fled in droves, seeking safety amid the onslaught.
Our reporter gathered that displaced families have taken refuge in nearby towns, with many left traumatized and homeless.
