DSS arrests, releases Sowore, at Lagos airport
The Department of State Services (DSS) released Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) shortly after he was arrested.
Sowore was picked up by operatives of the secret police at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos on Sunday, shortly after he arrived in the country.
On Saturday, the activist had raised an alarm over a plot by security agencies to pick him up and frame him.
Sowore had said, “Yeah! All around in my home town, they’re tryin’ to track me down, yeah! They say they want to bring me in guilty.
“However Babylon must fall! #FearlessInOctober.”
Deji Adeyanju, constitutional lawyer, has however confirmed that Sowore had been released with his passport returned.
“Omoyele Sowore released, passport returned to him. Aluta continua,” Adeyanju said.
