Bauchi, Kebbi, Sokoto most expensive states to live in Nigeria

Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto are the three most expensive states to live in Nigeria, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed

This is according to NBS’s consumer price index and inflation data for October, which was released on Friday.

According to the data, Bauchi State recorded the highest year-on-year inflation rate of 46.68% in October 2024. This was followed by Kebbi (40.02%) and Sokoto (39.65%).

On the slip side, Delta (27.85%), Benue (28.22%), and Katsina (29.59%) recorded the lowest rise in headline inflation on a year-on-year basis.

In the aspect of food inflation, in October 2024 it was highest in Sokoto (52.18%), Edo (46.55%), Borno (45.85%), while Kwara (31.68%), Kogi (33.30%), and Rivers (33.87%) recorded the slowest rise in food inflation on a year-on-year basis.

Recall that News Nexus reports that increase in price3 of food and petrol pushed Nigeria’s inflation to 33.88% in October.

Similarly, Nigeria’s food inflation increased to a record high of 39.16% during the period under review.
